Join Dr. Darlington for a Talk on Living Walls in Educational Facilities

University of Ottawa Living Wall

Dr. Darlington, founder of Nedlaw Living Walls, will be speaking at the Annual Conference of the Council of Educational Facility Planners International, Pacific Northwest Region (CEFPI).

Dr. Darlington is delivering the talk, “Living Wall Biofilters Take Root in Educational Facilities”. The talk will be of great interest to architects, engineers, contractors and suppliers, as well as those part of school facility design, planning, construction and operations.

Approximately twenty five percent of living wall biofilters have been installed in academic institutions. The University of Guelph-Humber, Drexel University, the University of Ottawa, and Windsor University are some examples. This likely because steering teams have been mandated to come up with high-quality environments for students and faculty alike. Incorporating a living wall is another signal of the institutions commitment to their community and the environment.

Living wall biofilters also represents the amalgamation of science, engineering and art to solve real problems of environmental sustainability in the built environment in an aesthetically pleasing manner. Nedlaw Living Walls has helped academic institutions across North America achieve their LEED goals. Dr. Darlington’s presentation will demonstrate the many benefits a living wall biofilter can have on these institutions and how they can be incorporated into the mechanics of these buildings.

The talk will be given twice during the conference. Once on Thursday May, 23 from 3:30pm to 4:30pm, and again on Friday, May 24, from 9:00am to 10:00am.

The theme of the conference is “Looking Toward the Horizon – Anticipating What the Future Holds”, and will be held at the Delta Regina Hotel in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Tickets are available for both CEFPI members and non-members. Don’t miss this highly educational event. Register today!
